Butoh

(舞踏 Butō) arose in 1959 through collaborations between its two key founders Hijikata Tatsumi and Ohno Kazo. It's a poetic and transformative movement practice that invites us to move beyond habit, technique, and performance. Through observation-based exercises, participants explore states of neutrality and stillness- the "zero point" from which authentic movement can emerge without acting or pretending.
The workshop deepens awareness of the body and its expressive potential through physical preparation, partner and group work, and a sensitive engagement with space and environment.
Guided by imagery, sensation, and imagination, we explore the inner landscapes, sounds, textures, and memories that shape movement, touching a place of authenticity from which genuine expression can emerge.
