Artist's statement
If you scroll down the pictures, you will come to understand I had another name in my past. I was born Inbal Nelly Fichman, got married to an Englishman and my surname changed to Lewis, and as I decided to leave behind my Middle Eastern roots I ended up as Nelly Lewis.
Yet my artistic search and subject stays the same...
I work with the stage language I developed since 2004 - Butomima, which is a hybrid of mime and butoh, a language that is all about transformation, imitation and truth.
The subject that I touch in all my works are about being a woman, living and giving life, my mission is to bring my audience into a calm state where they can experience a catharsis, a true connection to their life and to the essence of existing, to connect with wisdom, to feel purified.
I am so thankful to be invited to perform all over the world and to meet people on such a deep level that we become friends.
